I offer the traditional fan strutted Master ‘Granada’ Model using European Spruce or Canadian Cedar and rosewood, and the Master ‘Lattice’ braced Concert Model (Cedar and rosewood) Both models give beauty, power and projection with the Lattice model giving slightly more volume and a quicker attack in the treble but with powerful bottom end.
I use the best timbers, selected for their acoustic and visual qualities. Currently I am phasing out Brazilian Rio Rosewood as this is becoming increasingly hard to find, very expensive and troublesome to export. I use now Indian, Ziricote, Madagascan , Amazon and other hard rosewoods, as well as sustainably produced (FSC) cedar (cedrela odorata) for necks and African Ebony fingerboards. Cites documentation for the rosewoods used can be provided for guitars exporting out of the Euro zone.
I traditionally french polish the guitars to perfection by hand, using pumice, shellac and alcohol.
My Hill 1a Guitars are hand built by myself alone. They carry the full personality conceived by my hands, and are the outcome of 34 years of painstaking experience. The guitars are dated, signed, numbered and often have names given to them as each guitar is an individual creation.
We also offer a limited production of Hill 2a Guitars built in the workshop by one of my apprentices under my guidance, giving a top quality Hill model 2 guitar at a great price.
